DataMigrate Pro transfers your data directly from any Dynamics NAV and Navision version to Business Central – without intermediate versions. Until Go-live, Live-Sync and delta comparison keep both systems in sync: your departments carry on working as usual, you test with real data, and at the end you flip the switch.
From Navision & Dynamics NAV directly to Business Central - without a detour via intermediate versions.
Live in four weeks, without a single day of downtime.
No detour via interim versions, no weekend cutover – and the local services that normally disappear in the cloud stay available.
Live and delta sync
The old and the new system run side by side. Changes carry over within seconds, with no lock on the source system.

Implementation as an ExtensionC/AL code customizations
Customer-specific C/AL logic is converted to AL and transferred into a BC Extension
Implementation as an ExtensionReports & report layouts
Reports and their layouts (RDLC) can be transferred automatically from version NAV 2013 R2 onwards. Classic Reports (e.g. from NAV2009) usually have to be transformed and rebuilt in RDLC.
Review requiredISV solutions (Add-ons, modules and industry solutions)
ISV solutions from third-party providers (e.g. OPPlus, Datev) are checked against the corresponding Business Central counterparts. All data can be transferred.
Review requiredCVE-2026-55944: Critical vulnerability in Microsoft Dynamics NAV
A published vulnerability in Microsoft Dynamics NAV can be exploited over the network – without a login and without any action by a user. There are no security updates left for the affected versions; the only effective protection is to move to a supported Business Central version.
Only seven steps to Go-live.
A proven process from dozens of migration projects – with a clear effort analysis before you sign a contract. For most customers, the actual switchover (steps 5–7) is done in about four weeks.
Preparation & effort analysis
-
01
Introductory meeting
In a short call we clarify whether we are a good fit and outline your next steps – non-binding and without obligation.
-
02
Customization vs. Standard
Your old code base shows you exactly which customizations deviate from the standard of that time – and which are superfluous today because Business Central has long since covered them in the standard.
-
03
Object analysis & quote
Clear analysis of all Add-ons and customizations – including a concrete effort estimate for transferring them into modern Business Central Extensions.
-
04
Quote discussion
A joint meeting with a clear recommendation: what can be dropped, what stays, what gets modernized? Only then do you decide – without pressure.
Migration
-
05
Test environment & test data migration
We migrate your data with DataMigrate Pro directly into a test environment – regardless of your NAV version. That way you work with your real data in Business Central early on.
-
06
Move customizations into Extensions
Your Add-ons and customizations are transferred functionally into modern Business Central Extensions – cleanly adapted to the current standard.
-
07
Testing & seamless switchover
Both systems run in parallel. You switch over when you are ready: finish work in NAV, continue seamlessly in Business Central – open transactions are retained.
Faster than calculated. The preparation often takes more time than the changeover itself – and in practice we usually stay well below our own time estimates.
This is how DataMigrate Pro works.
Real-time replication - without a table lock in the source system.
DataMigrate Pro reads the source database without locking it. Postings, new documents and corrections from day-to-day NAV operations arrive in your Business Central test environment within seconds. This lets you prepare the changeover at your own pace – while operational business continues without interruption.
- Read-only access - no schema changes to the source
- Streaming instead of batch - changes are transferred within seconds
- Pause, resume and restart at any time - without data loss
Version-specific table mappings – included.
Every source version comes with its own table structure – and we have the matching mapping ready for each of them. Instead of starting every migration from scratch, you simply load the profile for your version, check the special fields and only edit your own custom tables. Standard objects are versioned and stored in an audit-proof manner.
- Ready-made profiles for every supported version
- Field-level transformation: type conversion, default values, lookups
- Add your own custom tables - without changing the standard profiles
Apply later changes at any time.
The synchronization continues to run after the initial migration. If the department enters a new document in NAV while testing – or if further tables are added shortly before the Cutover (the switch to the new system) – the engine picks up the delta by itself. Without a full run, without reloading everything.
- Incremental transfer instead of a full reload
- Live-Sync possible
- Define the Cutover yourself
Every record traceable.
For every migrated table, DataMigrate Pro creates a log: record counts in source and target, timestamp comparison and a complete audit trail. This gives your auditors and compliance team exactly the evidence they need.
- Record counts, totals and logs per table
- Complete audit trail
- Exportable reports (CSV, PDF, Excel)
Your data stays in your environment.
DataMigrate Pro runs entirely in your own environment – on your server or in your Microsoft tenant. The source and target systems communicate directly with each other; not a single record is routed through or temporarily stored on servers belonging to IO Integrated. Data sovereignty stays 100 % with you – a clean basis for your GDPR compliance, with no detour via third parties.
- Processing only in your environment - no transfer to third parties
- No detour via IO Integrated servers or cloud
- Full data sovereignty: access, retention and deletion remain with you
The restart should be your decision - not your partner's.
“You have to start on a greenfield.”
This is how many migration projects begin. With RapidStart and configuration packages, master data and opening balances reach Business Central. Posted documents, posting history and transaction data stay in NAV. What is sold as a “clean new start” is often simply the limit of your partner or of the available tools.
Because the history still has to remain accessible, the greenfield approach means the legacy system keeps running for inquiries, audits and the statutory retention period. This means hardware, operating system, database and backups remain in place as well. There is also the security risk of unpatched NAV versions, as the critical vulnerability CVE-2026-55944 shows.
Sometimes the greenfield is the right choice. But that decision is yours. It should depend on your requirements, not on the toolbox of your service provider. For that, both options have to be on the table.
- With us you have the choice: greenfield or complete migration - you decide deliberately
- Full history can be migrated: posted documents, entries, transaction data - not just master data
- Thanks to the test run and delta migration, you can still change course late in the project
- Legacy system really can be shut down: an end to hardware, operating system, backups and unpatched vulnerabilities
- No need to keep the legacy system running for statutory retention (GoBD/AO)
Local files, local printers and local scripts – from Business Central in the cloud.
When you move to the cloud, three things disappear that were taken for granted in NAV: access to directories in your own network, printing to the label printer in the warehouse, and calling local scripts. Until now this has required additional software or custom workarounds. DataMigrate Pro brings the three functions back – through the program that runs on a machine in your network for the migration anyway.
Local file access
Read, write, move, archive – on directories in your own network.
Local printers
Print to label printers and office printers directly from Business Central.
Scripts on the local machine
Trigger PowerShell from Business Central, automated and logged.
Business Central works with your directories again.
Business Central sends the job to DataMigrate Pro, the program runs it on the local file system and reports the result back. Every call is a separate operation with status, result and error message.
- ✓ Shared directories are stored in advance; Business Central cannot address an arbitrary path
- ✓ It is not possible to navigate out of a shared directory
- ✓ Permitted file extensions and maximum file size are configurable
- ✓ Recursive deletion of directories can be blocked globally
Traceable
Every request and every result is stored as a record in Business Central, with status, size of the transferred data and a clear error message if something goes wrong.
Repeatable
Failed requests can be marked in the overview and executed again.
Printing as before in local NAV.
DataMigrate Pro reports to Business Central which printers are installed on the machine and accepts print jobs. The printer list is held as a table in Business Central and can be updated at regular intervals.
- ✓ Zebra and label printers via the RAW data stream
- ✓ Office printers via the installed Windows driver
- ✓ Printer assignment per user, per report or as the default printer
- ✓ Batch printing from the job queue
No download detour
Reports are no longer downloaded as PDFs and printed by hand; the output goes directly to the printer on site.
Feedback per order
Every print job appears individually in Business Central, with status, job number from the print queue and error message.
Continue to control machines and equipment from the ERP.
If you trigger processes in production via local scripts, you lose that route when you move to the cloud. DataMigrate Pro accepts scripts from Business Central, runs them and returns the output and the return value.
- ✓ Business Central receives an acknowledgment immediately, the script continues to run in the background
- ✓ Output, error output, return value and runtime are logged
- ✓ Time limit per call; if it is exceeded, the process and its subprocesses are terminated
- ✓ The response to Business Central is repeated if there are faults
Replaces the program call from the NAV client
In NAV, such calls were started by the client at the workstation. In Business Central, DataMigrate Pro takes this over, and every call is logged.
From the job queue
Scripts can be triggered on a schedule or by an event, without anyone sitting at the computer.
DataMigrate Pro vs. Microsoft Cloud Migration Tool.
The Microsoft migration tool has a clear focus: a one-time move to the cloud, only from Business Central OnPremise v25 upwards. With older versions, OnPremise targets or continued parallel work, its scope ends. DataMigrate Pro covers all of that.
| Feature | IO Integrated DataMigrate Pro | Microsoft Cloud Migration Tool |
|---|---|---|
| OnPremise as the target Migration to an OnPremise installation of Business Central | ✓ Yes | ✕ No |
| Cloud / SaaS as target Microsoft only supports direct cloud migration from Business Central OnPremise v25 | ✓ Yes | ⚠ Only from BC v25 |
| All versions from Navision Attain onwards Versions more than 25 years old can be migrated directly | ✓ Yes | ✕ No |
| Support for all Navision / Dynamics NAV versions Migrate from Navision Attain up to Dynamics NAV 2018 directly to BC without "jump" versions | ✓ Yes | ✕ No |
| Support for all Business Central versions Migrate directly to BC from Business Central v14 up to the current version, without "jump" versions | ✓ Yes | ⚠ Only from BC v25 |
| Working in both systems in parallel Step-by-step changeover, bidirectional synchronization possible | ✓ Yes | ✕ No |
| Live-Sync Real-time sync without a table lock in the source system | ✓ Yes | ✕ No |
| Delta-Sync Add later changes or further tables at any time | ✓ Yes | ✕ No |
Cloud or OnPremise – you decide. Microsoft's tool is aimed strictly at the move to the cloud.
Backward compatible down to Navision Attain 3.60. No costly intermediate steps via jump versions.
Live-Sync and working in parallel over weeks. The switchover happens exactly when it suits your company – without downtime.
No consultant theater. No workshops lasting weeks.
You tell us your version, your customizations, your Add-ons. We tell you how your migration will run: which steps, which timeframe, which cost range. Free of charge.
Built for everyone who has already been through a migration.
Then you know the breaking points: months of intermediate versions, a risky big bang and an import that nobody can trace afterwards.
That is exactly where DataMigrate Pro comes in. We transfer your NAV database directly to Business Central, regardless of the source version, in a single pass. Until the Go-live, a Delta-Sync keeps both systems up to date. Every run is repeatable, comparable and fully logged.
No detour. No big bang. No black box.
Installation from AppSource
Via Microsoft AppSource, like any other Business Central app. Then connect the source and target system - that was the setup.
Mapping
For the common NAV and Business Central versions we supply the table mappings. You check and extend them instead of starting from scratch.
Start of migration & synchronization
Every run is repeatable. The Delta-Sync then transfers only changes; you see status, logs and discrepancies live.
Switchover & Go-live
Cutover on the planned date. Until then your team keeps working in the legacy system as usual.
For partners, developers and experienced IT teams.

Frequently asked questions.
Do I need an intermediate migration for my NAV version?
No. DataMigrate Pro reads your source database directly – even if you are still running Navision Attain 3.60 or NAV 2009 R2. Moving to a newer NAV or BC version is not necessary in order to start the migration.
Does DataMigrate Pro change anything in our current NAV installation?
No. Access to your source database is read-only – without locks, without schema changes. Your NAV environment remains untouched and fully productive while the migration runs in the background.
How does DataMigrate Pro handle our custom tables?
Your custom tables migrate along in full. Standard objects use versioned mapping profiles; you add your own tables and fields selectively – without changing the standard profiles.
Can we run tests in BC while NAV keeps running?
Yes – that is exactly what DataMigrate Pro is built for. Both systems run in parallel and stay synchronized live. Your team continues to work in NAV while you test in Business Central with real data. The Delta-Sync picks up later changes at any time.
How long does a migration realistically take?
For most customers, the actual switchover is done in around four weeks. The preparation often takes more time – analysis, mapping, tests.
Can Microsoft partners use DataMigrate Pro as well?
Yes. Many partners use DataMigrate Pro in their own projects – with a partner discount on the license, repeatable delta migrations and optional sparring at the critical points. This makes migrations predictable and high-margin.
How does DataMigrate Pro differ from the Microsoft Cloud Migration Tool?
The Microsoft tool only migrates to the cloud and requires current versions – older releases first have to go through expensive intermediate upgrades. DataMigrate Pro migrates directly, from any version starting with Navision Attain, either to the cloud or OnPremise – with Live-Sync, delta migration and parallel operation of both systems.
How does Business Central in the cloud reach our local files and printers?
Via DataMigrate Pro. For the migration, the program runs on a machine in your network anyway. Business Central sends it a job, it executes the job locally and reports the result back. For files, the shared directories are stored in advance; for printers it reads the installed devices and stores them as a list in Business Central.
Can we start any program from Business Central?
No. Only PowerShell is executed, non-interactively and without a user profile. Every call has a time limit; if it is exceeded, DataMigrate Pro ends the process together with its subprocesses. Script text, output, error output, return value and runtime are then available in an overview in Business Central.
Which version are you coming from?
For each source version you will find the support status, typical risks and the specific process on a separate page.
