"Turning old into new": The advantages of Business Central
Dynamics NAV (and Navision Attain even more so) is getting on in years. It’s time to cut costs and minimize risks – after all, your ERP system is the linchpin of your business.
In times of remote working and an ever faster developing digital economy, it is important not to miss the boat, because if you keep up with the times then time won’t pass you by. Switching from Navision to Business Central is particularly interesting because numerous third-party apps can be used – for example via Microsoft AppSource – external services can be easily connected via API and Microsoft Copilot is directly integrated into Business Central.
The most common stumbling blocks when switching to Business Central
From numerous migration projects with our customers, we know exactly why the changeover repeatedly fails or is postponed:
High costs, long project durations and inadequate support from the previous Navision partner coupled with poor planning.
The founders of IO Integrated originally worked as freelancers and – for precisely the reasons mentioned – were regularly commissioned by Navision partners or even directly by end customers when a project was stuck.

What we do differently to make the switch to Business Central a success
The many upgrade projects we have been involved in in the past have taught us that good planning and the right toolset make the difference between success and failure. We have therefore established the following process:
- Free and non-binding introductory meeting
To find out whether you are a good fit for us and whether we are a good fit for you, we get to know each other in a free initial meeting. We will also discuss the next steps. Ideally, you will then be able to provide us with the old code base so that we can start with step 2: - Free identification of customization vs. standard
We analyse which adaptations deviate from the standard at the time and what is now superfluous – such as legacy issues or functions that are now included in the Business Central Standard. - Free provision of object analysis and quotation
We provide a clear analysis of all add-ons and customizations used – including an estimate of the effort required to convert them into a modern extension (app). - Free discussion of the offer
In a joint meeting, we discuss the results, make specific recommendations (e.g. on dispensing with adaptations that are no longer required or those that are currently included in the standard) and clarify the next steps. - Provision of a test environment and test data migration
As soon as you have – ideally – chosen us, the first step is to map the data structure of your legacy system. We then migrate your data directly into a test environment using our DataMigrate Pro tool.This step makes all the difference:
Unlike many other providers, we are able to transfer your data directly to Business Central – regardless of the NAV version you are using. This allows you to work with the new system at an early stage and familiarize yourself with Business Central in a realistic environment – based on your own data. - Transferring customizations and add-ons to a Business Central Extension (app)
Once the data structure has been transferred, the next step follows: the functional transfer of your existing customizations and add-ons to modern Business Central Extensions – adapted to the current standard. - Testing & Go-Live
After successful testing, nothing stands in the way of switching to Business Central. Thanks to our DataMigrate Pro tool, you can use both systems in parallel. As soon as you are ready, simply switch over: You finish your work in Dynamics NAV and continue working seamlessly in Business Central – without interruption. Even open processes are retained and can be completed later. You retain full control at all times.
💡 Important for you: In contrast to many other providers, the entire quotation phase is completely free of charge. This allows you to evaluate the migration from Dynamics NAV to Business Central in peace and without risk.
Steps 5 to 7 are completed within two weeks for most of our customers.
Surprisingly, the preparation phase usually takes longer than the actual changeover. In practice, we often remain well below the deliberately conservative time estimates in our offer.
