Here is a very short guide you can adapt for your project if you use the built-in HTTP client to send data to or receive data from a web service via GET\/POST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to receive JSON data from a web service, you have to fake those calls, because <strong>real HTTP connections are not allowed during tests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We assume you have written a codeunit that handles the HTTP connection. If so, most of the work is already done. If not, you will probably have to restructure your code and move that part into a separate codeunit. After that you are ready to go. Now for the key part: everywhere you call the codeunit function that invokes the web service, you have to pass the object ID of the codeunit along with it (for example through a field in a setup table with a table relation to &#8220;CodeUnit Metadata&#8221;.ID;). This lets your code run either the real codeunit or the mock codeunit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since it is not possible (in most cases) to put the entire JSON you want to test into a single string, you have to build it on the fly in your mock codeunit. Write a function that generates your JSON based on a real JSON message from the web service. Leave out the objects you do not need, which your code will not process anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can construct your JSON message by creating variables in your function and using &#8220;JsonObject&#8221;, &#8220;JsonArray&#8221;, &#8220;JsonValue&#8221; and so on as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To do that, we create a text array and enter all the data. <br><em>Example<\/em>:<br>If part of the JSON is the key\/value pair &#8220;{&#8220;id&#8221;: &#8220;12345&#8221;}&#8221;, you build the object like this:<br><code>JsonValueArray[1] := '12345';<\/code><br><code>JsonObject.Add('id', JsonValueArray[1]);<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we have several entries in one JSON message, we use a two-dimensional text array and adjust the code slightly so we can loop through it:<br><br><code>JsonValueArray[1][1] := '12345';<\/code><br><code>JsonValueArray[2][1] := '67890';<\/code><br><br>Then, inside the loop:<br><code>JsonObject.Add('id', JsonValueArray[i][1]);<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is of course only a small part of what you actually have to do.
