Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CloneMyCompany synchronises Business Central data between a source tenant and a target tenant. It detects tables that contain data, transfers records in chunks, supports resumable jobs and optional Delta-Sync, and shows progress on a cockpit page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Prerequisites and roles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before you start, you need Business Central 21.0 or higher, administrative access to both tenants and an Azure AD app registration for OAuth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The source tenant (sender) holds the data you want to back up, while the target tenant (receiver) accepts the transferred records through the API endpoints published by the app.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Prepare the target (receiver) environment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install the CloneMyCompany app in the target tenant and then grant the entry application the permissions it needs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Configure the source environment (sender)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install the app in the source tenant, open <strong>CloneMyCompany Setup<\/strong> and choose <strong>Import Connection Information<\/strong> to load the JSON you exported from the receiver. The action validates the JSON format and fills in the authentication fields automatically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whenever you edit the tenant URL or the credentials, the page clears the cached OAuth token so that the next request uses the updated values.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.1 Field reference for CloneMyCompany Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Field<\/th><th>How to fill it in<\/th><th>Why it matters<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Target Tenant URL<\/strong><\/td><td>Use the Business Central base URL up to and including the environment name, for example <code>https:\/\/api.businesscentral.dynamics.com\/v2.0\/&lt;tenantId&gt;\/&lt;environmentName&gt;<\/code>. If the imported JSON ends with <code>\/api\/<\/code>, replace that placeholder with the actual environment name before you save. <\/td><td>The app appends <code>\/api\/v2.0\/companies<\/code> when it retrieves companies and <code>\/ODataV4\/backupdata_ReceiveBackupData<\/code> for the data transfer. The base URL therefore has to point to the root of the environment and contain the tenant ID that the OAuth handler extracts for token requests.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Client ID \/ Client Secret<\/strong><\/td><td>Take both values from the exported JSON and paste them exactly as given; the secret stays masked in the user interface.<\/td><td>They are used to obtain the OAuth token for every API call; invalid values block communication with the receiver.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Target Company<\/strong><\/td><td>Choose <strong>Refresh Companies<\/strong> to load the list from the target tenant, select the company you want and let the page fill in the field. The selection stores the unique <strong>company ID<\/strong> returned by the API rather than the display name, so you do not have to type the name manually.<\/td><td>The company ID is appended when the data is sent to the OData endpoint, so that the receiver stores the records in the correct company context.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Source Company<\/strong><\/td><td>Enter the name of the Business Central company you want to run the job from. Use it as a reminder to run or schedule the job in the context of that company.<\/td><td>The engine runs in the current company (or in the company set in the job queue entry) without switching automatically. Matching the field to the company you work in avoids errors when you run or schedule backups.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Chunk Size<\/strong><\/td><td>Leave it at the default of 1000 records or choose any value between 10 and 10,000, depending on your performance requirements.<\/td><td>The chunk size controls how many records the engine bundles per HTTP call while it processes each table.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Enable Delta Sync<\/strong><\/td><td>Turn this option on to skip unchanged records in future runs; leave it off for full backups.<\/td><td>When it is enabled, the app checks the backup log for the last modification timestamp of each record and re-transfers only new or updated entries.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have filled in the fields, use <strong>Test Connection<\/strong> to confirm that the credentials and the URL are valid; the action retrieves a new token and reports any authentication error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Select the tables to transfer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the setup page, choose <strong>Select Tables<\/strong> to open the table selection list. From there you can: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Detect all tables that contain data automatically<strong> (Detect Tables With Data<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle inclusion, adjust the priorities (lower numbers run first) or reset the priorities to the default profile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select or deselect all tables quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The list tracks the number of records and the number of transferred records per table, which makes it easier to plan large migrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Run a backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start an on-demand transfer with <strong>Start Backup Now<\/strong>; the action asks for confirmation before it calls the codeunit for the data transfer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The backup codeunit validates the registration, initialises the configuration and walks through every selected table, processing the records in chunks and marking the configuration as completed when it has finished.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To monitor a job manually or to resume an interrupted one, open the <strong>CloneMyCompany Cockpit<\/strong> part and use <strong>Start\/Resume Backup<\/strong> there.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Schedule recurring runs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use <strong>Schedule CloneMyCompany<\/strong> on the setup card to define daily, weekly or monthly recurrences. The scheduling page checks your entries, writes the recurrence back to the configuration and creates the corresponding job queue entry. You can update or cancel the schedule from the same page.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The job queue manager iterates over the scheduled configurations and triggers <code>StartBackupJob<\/code> for each of them, logging the result of the run so that you can review the automated runs.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Monitor progress and keep logs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The cockpit shows the overall status, the progress in percent, the estimated remaining time and the timestamp of the last completed backup. Embedded parts show running or failed log entries and detailed table statistics. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean up historical log entries regularly with <strong>Cleanup Log Entries<\/strong>, which offers predefined retention options, or with <strong>Delete Backup Log<\/strong> if you need to reset the log completely.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The cleanup action is delegated to <code>CleanupBackupLog<\/code>, which keeps only completed entries that are newer than the selected retention period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Delta-Sync and incremental behaviour<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Delta-Sync is enabled, <code>ShouldTransferRecord<\/code> checks the backup log for the last modification timestamp of each record and skips records that have already been transferred without changes, which reduces repeated traffic.<br>Even with Delta-Sync switched off, the transfers run in chunks according to the chunk size you have set, so that large tables are processed efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. FAQ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does the target tenant URL have to be structured?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the base URL of the Business Central environment (tenant + environment) without additional API segments, for example <code>https:\/\/api.businesscentral.dynamics.com\/v2.0\/&lt;tenantId&gt;\/&lt;environmentName&gt;<\/code>. The setup page appends <code>\/api\/v2.0\/companies<\/code> to this base when you refresh the companies, and <code>\/ODataV4\/backupdata_ReceiveBackupData?company=&lt;id&gt;<\/code> for transfers. The OAuth handler extracts the tenant ID from the same string to request access tokens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does &#8220;Target Company&#8221; expect the company name or the ID?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Refresh Companies<\/strong> action calls the Business Central API, shows the company names and stores the GUID (ID) of the selected company in the configuration. Leave the selection to the action so that the stored ID matches what the APIs expect. Typing a name manually does not work with the OData endpoint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What should I enter under &#8220;Source Company&#8221;?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter the name of the Business Central company you want to back up, for example the company you are currently signed in to. The field documents your intention; the backup engine itself runs in the current company context (or in the company assigned to the job queue entry) and does not switch automatically. Keeping this field correct lets you schedule and run jobs in the right company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. Troubleshooting tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Authentication problems<\/strong> &#8211; Use <strong>Test Connection<\/strong> to test the credentials right away. The action reports token errors so that you can correct the client ID, the secret or the URL.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Errors when refreshing companies<\/strong> &#8211; Make sure that the tenant URL, the client ID and the secret are filled in before you choose <strong>Refresh Companies<\/strong>. The page shows HTTP status codes when the API request fails, so that you can adjust the URL or the credentials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Log growth<\/strong> &#8211; Use the log cleanup actions regularly to remove old completed entries and keep the cockpit responsive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12.
