At the same time, the B2B e-invoice has increased the pressure to act since 01.01.2025. If you do not keep your ERP up to date, you risk security gaps, compliance violations and rising operating costs. Maintaining a modern ERP means two major releases a year in April and October, a support window of around 18 months per version, fit to standard instead of uncontrolled customizing, and access to AI features such as Copilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-was-sich-geandert-hat\">What has changed<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>E-invoicing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 01.01.2025, companies have to be able to receive and process electronic invoices in B2B business. A PDF does not count as an e-invoice under EN 16931. Sending them becomes mandatory in stages. Companies should therefore bring their document flows, formats, validation and archiving in line with the standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vendor policy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dynamics NAV 2016, 2017 and 2018 are only in extended support. Once that ends, there are no more security updates. Business Central follows the Modern Lifecycle Policy with major releases every six months in April and October. If you miss that rhythm, you fall out of support quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-risiken-des-nicht-handelns\">The risks of doing nothing<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Security risks:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Old Windows Server and SQL Server versions are often out of support. Without security updates, the risk of attack and of liability goes up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compliance risks:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Missing e-invoicing capability, missing traceability and outdated Add-ons lead to audit findings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operating and cost drivers:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More emergency fixes, manual workarounds, longer lead times. That costs more than a planned upgrade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nutzenhebel-eines-upgrades\">What an upgrade gains you<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Productivity:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current features, better usability and automation shorten lead times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quality:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Standardized processes lower error rates and reduce breaks in the media chain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI and Copilot:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current Business Central releases enable Copilot features such as chat with Copilot, text generation and assistants for core processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bin-ich-uberfallig\">Am I overdue?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NAV older than 2018: start planning now, since there is only extended support and the risks are high.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NAV 2018: replace it by 11.01.2028 at the latest. The earlier you do, the less duplicated effort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business Central: stay within the Modern Lifecycle and use the rhythm every April and October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-warnzeichen-im-betrieb\">Warning signs in day-to-day operation<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Windows Server or Microsoft SQL out of support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workarounds for mandatory functions such as e-invoicing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No tested disaster recovery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An announced end of support for Add-ons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A backlog of upgrades that keep being postponed indefinitely<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wie-wir-unterstutzen\">How we support you<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We provide a quick check focused on moving from Dynamics NAV \/ Navision to Business Central quickly and at low cost.
